Inmate Escapes from Mobile County Job Site

An inmate escaped while he was working at an assigned job site in Mobile County on Wednesday, the Alabama Department of Corrections said.

Carl Mitchell, 34, left the job location in Bay Minnette at 6:26 a.m. He was last seen wearing a gray or white T-shirt with dark gray pants and black shoes. He was also wearing a gray cap. He is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has black hair and hazel eyes.

Mitchell was 13 years into his 20-year-sentence for a distribution of controlled substance charge from Baldwin County. ADOC said Mitchell was sentenced in March 2014. He was incarcerated at the Mobile Work Release Center.
